FWBHS STARS DANCE TEAM

The Fort Walton Beach High School Stars are a Nationally ranked dance team. We compete at the NDA High School Nationals in Orlando, FL every year. We perform a variety of dance styles/genres, which includes Hip Hop for all of our school pep rallies, Pom/Kick for all home Football games, and Hip Hop and Contemporary Jazz for home Basketball games. We compete in the Hip Hop and Jazz divisions at the Regional level, as well as the National level. In addition to performing for our school and competing, we also participate in various community events and volunteer as much as possible. We practice Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays after school 2:20pm-4:30pm August-February. We have a custom technique class on Wednesdays after school 2:15pm-3:45pm September-February with Kim Berry from Amplified 850. We have five hour competition practices on Saturdays October-February. We condition for 30 minutes at the beginning of every after school practice to improve strength and stamina. Every year we host a dance clinic called Dancing with the Stars for grades pre-K through 12th, in which all participants learn a dance and perform with the Stars for halftime at a Viking Basketball game. We also host an annual Spring Dance Showcase with performances by us, FWBHS Dance Classes, local middle schools and dance studios.

 

Unfortunately, we do not receive any financial assistance from the county or the school. Therefore, we rely on fundraising and the generosity of our local businesses to provide sponsorship. We are extremely thankful for all of the amazing businesses that continue to help us every year.
